CDP or Cisco Discovery Protocol

CDP or Cisco Discovery Protocol run on all Cisco IOS-devices. CDP gathers information about neibhouring devices which are directly connected. CDP works on Layer-2 of OSI Layer Model. By default CDP is enabled in all Cisco devices.
We can get the below details of the neibhoring device using CDP
- Hardware Type
- Device Identifier
- Software Version
- Active Interfaces
