Cisco Router Boot Process 

Cisco IOS software is stored in a different location, most of the cisco routers boot system commands stored in nonvolatile memory (NVRAM), network administrator can change the value of register to change the location of the router load the IOS image

Cisco Routing Device is activated within the definition of register queues several options:-

1) If the network administrator in the global mode, use the boot system command specify a particular source, the router will restart when you boot system in accordance with the location you specified to locate the IOS

2) If the NVRAM is not available in boot system queue, cisco router, by default will be used is stored in the flash memory (flash) in the IOS image

3) If there is no flash in the IOS image file, the router will load an IOS from a TFTP the image
